General Discussion/Business:

  • Tara Grim has stepped up as Secretary.

  • Fred Lynch appointed President of SMYLA for 2016.

  • SMYLA considering name change to “Suburban Southern Maryland Youth Lacrosse Assoc.” to attract more teams/players.

  • Lacrosse field availability, home field will be Marley Run.  Home games to take place on 4/9, 4/23 & 5/7 for all teams other than Scoopers.  Scoopers will not have home games due to size of field and availability.

  • Lacrosse equipment condition and availability, including lacrosse goals and goalie equipment.

  • Lacrosse practices to be held at Calvert Middle School field for all teams except U13 they will practice at Plum Point Middle School field.

  • Lacrosse practices to begin March 1st; U13 & U15 teams may meet prior (weekend practices if weather permits).

  • Lacrosse games to begin on 4/2/16.

  • U11 Potomac; 2 U13 teams: 1 Chesapeake, 1 Potomac; U15 Chesapeake

  • Teams participating in Chesapeake will be participating in the All-Star Tournament.

  • Fundraiser possibilities: Butter Braid, tee-shirts, restaurant dine night.

  • End of season awards for lacrosse players for Scoopers, U9 and U11.

  • Order extra lax uniforms and different practice uniforms for cheer.

  • HYC Appreciation Day at Dick’s Sporting Goods and HYC Discount with Olympia Sports.

  • Lacrosse Picture Day for team & player photographs.

  • Spirit Wear, set up and order Canes Apparel.

  • Football/Cheer Registration to open April 1st, offering early bird special for early registrants.

  • Request for new mats for cheer.

  • Advertising for cheer and HYC.

  • Request/possibility for new cheer uniforms; current uniforms are deteriorating.

  • $200 Donation given to Saint Nicholas Lutheran Church for allowing cheerleaders to practice on their property.
