General Season info:
The cheerleading season runs from August to approximately the end of November. The total number of games that you will cheer will be based on the Football teams/divisions and your head coach's discretion. There are normally a total of 10 games played by the football players, depending on whether a team qualifies for the Calvert Classic. The top 4 teams in each football division qualify for the Playoffs.
The Calvert County Youth Football League (CCYFL) is now known as the Southern Maryland Youth Athletic Conference (SMYAC).

Cheerleaders are placed on squads based on birth year, cheer skills, maturity and balance across the squads. Registering your child on a team, does not guarantee their place on that team. The Cheer Commissioners and Head Coaches will make team assignments based on age, cheer skills, maturity, and balance across the teams. You will be notified of your team assignment and coach prior to the start of the season.
Practice:
Can begin August 1st, with the first game of the season potentially starting August 29th.
Regular Season Schedules:
Schedules are not made available to the clubs normally until the week prior to the first game(s). We will post all schedules as soon as the county provides them.
Game(s) will not be schedule for Labor Day weekend.

Uniform Info.
The cheer uniform you are issued is property of Huntingtown Youth Club and its cheer program. Each cheerleader issued a uniform is responsible for properly handling and caring for it throughout the duration of the season. HYC understands there will be normal wear, however, we ask all cheerleaders abide by the following terms and conditions:
1. You are responsible for any stains, tears, or other damages to the uniform while in your care.
2. You are to keep the uniform clean and in its issued condition. Follow the washing instructions you have been provided. Wash in COLD water and HANG DRY.
3. Uniforms are to be worn for designated cheerleading activities/events only.
4. Do NOT alter any part of your uniform. Any and all alterations must be approved by the HYC Cheer Commissioner.
5. A $130 deposit is required prior to receiving the cheer uniform. It will be held by the HYC Treasurer and returned after the uniform is returned at the end of the season. Any damages and/or unapproved alterations are subject to a fine. Any uniform not returned by the due date will be subject to a replacement fee of $130.
Coaches will collect their team’s uniforms at the end of the season. It is the parent’s responsibility to return the uniform. You will be notified of the turn-in dates once your season concludes. All accessory items purchased (bows, crop tops, kick pants and poms belong to the cheerleader and do not need to be returned).

Hair Bow - $10 Mandatory for all squads, included in registration (except Flag, Flag must purchase a bow).
Kick pants - $7 Mandatory for all squads. (If you have kick pants from previous seasons that still fit you may use them.)
White Cheer Shoes - Mandatory for all squads except Flag. Cheer shoes are not purchased through the club.
Poms - $20 Mandatory for all squads except Flag. (If you have silver poms from previous seasons you may use them.) Black CropTops - $18 Mandatory for all squads except for Flag. Flag may wear black crop top or black turtleneck. (If you have a black crop top from a prior season that still fits you may use that.)
Cheerleading Coaching Application Info:
If you are interested in volunteering this year as a coach please contact our Cheer Commissioner Natalie Mirtich.
All coaches (heads and assistants) that will be on the "other side of the ropes" are required by CCPR to be certified through the National Alliance for Youth Sports.
Coaches who have completed the certification process must provide your membership number and expiration date on your Coaching Application. For those who have not completed the certification please log on towww.nays.organd follow the online instructions once completed please provide your member number and exp. date to Natalie Mirtich.
