General Season info:
The cheerleading season runs from August to approximately the end of November. The total number of games that you will cheer will be based on the Football teams/divisions and your head coach's discretion. There are normally a total of 10 games played by the football players, depending on whether a team qualifies for the Calvert Classic. The top 4 teams in each football division qualify for the Playoffs.
The Calvert County Youth Football League (CCYFL) is now known as the Southern Maryland Youth Athletic Conference (SMYAC).
Huntingtown Hurricanes * Prince Frederick Eagles * Solomons Steelers * Dunkirk Warriors * Owings Outlaws * Beach Buccaneers
Leonardtown Wildcats * Pax River Raiders * Mechanicsville Braves * LaPlata Blue Knights * Hughesville Hurricanes
Cheerleaders are placed on squads based on birth year, cheer skills, maturity and balance across the squads. Registering your child on a team, does not guarantee their place on that team. The Cheer Commissioners and Head Coaches will make team assignments based on age, cheer skills, maturity, and balance across the teams. You will be notified of your team assignment and coach prior to the start of the season.
Can begin August 1st, with the first game of the season potentially starting August 29th.
